MY trip to Las Vegas.
9 April 08
I was allowed to go to Las Vegas for a training seminar. I am very thankful
for the seminar. So many people
thinking how great it is to "GO T O VEGAS- wooohoooo".
I have heard the saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". I
sure hope that holds true. I haven't been to Tunica and don't care to go. Aside
from the stupidity of gambling, I hope Tunica hasn't inherited anything from
VEGAS. And if it has, I hope it doesn't migrate to the corner of the state where
I live.
I have no desire to gamble, don't care to see shows
with queers dressed like women, nor do I care to see some out of work entertainer
getting the last few years of his or her ability by entertaining people that
think giving their money away is fun. Nor do I enjoy seeing elderly people
hunkered down in front of a machine that takes their money and gives it to the
casino for absolutely no reason.
1st My American Airlines flight leaving Huntsville was late. After sprinting
through DFW airport I get on the plane that had already closed the doors.
Squeeze in to my seat and let the lactic acid build up in my legs for 4 hours.
Of course I was provided 1 oz of mixed nuts, 3/4 oz of white cheddar cheese, 4
crackers, and 1 oz of raisins to eat on the plane. Of course that cost
$4.00.
I then land in Las Vegas to find that my Luggage has not made it. Fortunately
I had been running earlier that day and worked up a pretty good sweat and would therefore
be able to share some of my wonderful trip with others.
I went to sleep early expecting to be woken by someone calling to say my bag
was here. It didn't happen.
I left out for training that morning after eating a 12 dollar breakfast that
consisted of fruit and a egg croissant.
Came back that eve after class and all the stuff from my pockets was gone
(receipts, change etc) as was my mp3 player, charger for my phone and cable to
tether my phone to my PC. I called the
front desk figuring someone thought I checked out (Which someone did because my
towel and shampoo in the bathroom was gone. They forwarded me to housekeeping. I
explained to housekeeping that someone may have taken my stuff . She checked and
nobody had anything.
I called security and filed a report. I will follow up to see if this is
reported to the police.
What a waste of perfectly good desert!
10 April 08
I called the security office . They informed me that some of my things were
"FOUND".They had absolutely no information on what had happened or the
status of what was being done.
11 April 08
Again, no information. I was passed around from person to person in security
on the phone. The "Night Manager" was no help and only said he was
sorry. I was referred to someone else and explained the situation to them. They
referred my to "Risk Management". I explained to the person on the
phone that I was not satisfied with how this all was handled and was interested
in an explanation of how someone can check in one day and housekeeping think
that no one is in the room and then take all of the personal items from the room
and then that same evening when they are called have NO idea where the items
went.
. The person I was speaking with at first did not seem concerned with the
items I had not had returned. I was not either. I explained that I was
mainly concerned with how the situation occurred. She then seemed concerned also
and said she would investigate it further and call me Monday. I said that was
fine.
12 April 08
I then went to check out the next morning and the "Computer System"
was down . I explained to the person behind the counter that I was not impressed
with their motel and that I had stayed in $39.00 a night places that didn't
clean my room while I was still checked in and they were also able to give me a
receipt. He then went to the managers office and came out with a receipt. MAGIC.
13 April 08
I received a call indicating that the issue had been investigated and that it
was a result of housekeeping not having a current list of who was checked in or
out. I am by no means a computer genius but I am pretty confident that a
computer can pretty much keep the information "real time" as far as
who checked in or out that morning. Of course I could be wrong.
I did appreciate the following up and explained that I was more upset about
what happened than I was about a missing MP3 player, Hat, Hairbrush, and pocket
items. She offered to compensate me for the items which I declined. She sounded
like it was something she needed to do so I said that was ok. She indicated she
needed to send a "release". I gave her my email address. I was
thinking that it would say I would release them from the responsibility for an
MP3 player, hat, brush, and pocket items. Boy was I wrong.
Here is the text from the release.
