Below is a simple sketch showing the use of a dog and wedge for pulling up a piece of to a flat bar. The wedge can be replaced with a jack or prybar if needed. The top view is a little unclear since I didn't draw all of the lines but this should let you know the basic concept.
If you have the material and are going to only be fitting up tee joints the dog below works best.
